Children’s Respite Specialist - ** Up to $2,000 Dollar Sign-On Bonus**

Schedule: Full Time, Part Time, and Relief schedules available (including overnights!)
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour ** $2,000 Sign-On Bonus for Full Time Staff, $1,000 for Part Time Staff**

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive employee to provide high-level behavioral support to children in our outpatient respite center while they are transitioning from an inpatient behavioral health unit. The staff will be guided to assist the children during instances of self-injury and disruptive behavior based on a care plan provided by both Access CNY and the inpatient program.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to children during moments of self-injury or disruptive behavior, following individualized care plans
Foster a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes emotional regulation, stability, and a sense of belonging for children in crisis
Implement personalized goals and strategies outlined in each child's Staff Action or Service Plan
Assist children with daily living activities (ADLs), such as bathing, toileting, dressing, eating, and mobility, to support comfort and dignity
Teach and reinforce skills that promote independence, including behavior management, social interaction, and health and safety awareness
Accompany and transport children to community activities that align with their interests and personal development
Ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of each child in the home, community, and during transportation
When this program has low or no occupancy, you may be expected to work in other program areas within the agency. The location/programs available to you will be determined by Agency Administration.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma/GED required. One year experience working with children with I/DD or a Mental Health diagnosis preferred. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain preferred. Experience working with children with behavioral needs preferred.
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid New York State driver license in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving Policy and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must be able to demonstrate teamwork and professionalism. Must be willing to visit children and families in their home setting, travel outside Onondaga County may be required. Must be able and willing to demonstrate direct care duties, including personal assistance. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
